The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Supplementary Budget of N398.3 billion.
The bill, which underwent thorough consideration on Monday when the House dissolved into the Committee on Supply chaired by the Speaker, approved N175.4 billion for capital expenditure and N222.9 billion for recurrent expenditure.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has announced that the Assembly has received the list of commissioner nominees submitted by the Governor, Mr. Abayomi Oyebanji, adding that the screening of the nominees will begin on Tuesday.
In another development, the Speaker reaffirmed the Ekiti State House of Assembly’s commitment to building a legislative system that can stand shoulder to shoulder with any parliament in the world.
Speaking at the December edition of the Assembly’s monthly prayer session, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye urged staff to raise their performance level, noting that the ongoing digital revolution drive of the Assembly is targeted at achieving global competitiveness.
“We must build a structure that will compete with any parliament in the world. That’s the vision, and we need people to operate that vision. Let’s begin to engage ourselves, task our brains and challenge the status quo,” he said.
The Speaker directed the Clerk to urgently organize another round of staff training tailored to specific needs and driven by ICT, encouraging workers to innovate and think outside the box for personal growth and institutional excellence.
