..confirms Seun Fakuade as Commissioner designate
As part of efforts to improve the internally generated revenue and to checkmate the activities of the Tax Collectors in the state, the Ekiti State House of Assembly has amended the State Revenue Administration bill, 2025.
Sequel to the exercise, the House received and adopted the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, after it was read by the Chairman of the Committee and the lawmaker representing Gbonyin/Ayekiire Constituency, Hon Adeteju Okuyiga.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye commended Hon Okuyiga and the other Committee members for presenting a robust report that captured all the activities that related to the budget process.
Rt Hon Aribasoye who stated that the 2026 appropriation estimate would be a reflection of the request and yearnings of the people of the state, reiterated the effort put in place by the Governor in conducting town hall meeting across the state before presenting the document to the House of Assembly.
The Speaker highlighted the significance of the bill and the involvement of the Accounting Officers in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies during the budget presentation, and contributions from lawmakers on 4th November, 2025 as well as the public hearing conducted by the Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
In another development, the lawmaker representing Oye Constituency 1, Hon Tope Longe drew the attention of the members of the House to the arbitrary and indiscriminate parking of trailers, lorries and tankers along Bank Road in Ado Ekiti which has led to serious accidents in the area.
Hon Longe emphasized on the need for the house to engage the business operators in the area and to inform the stakeholders in the road maintenance sector of the incessant incidents.
Reacting to the matter, the Speaker, Rt Hon Aribasoye said, it is imperative for the house to intervene in such situation in order to curb the recurring incidents of road accident in the axis.
The legislative helmsman however directed the Clerk of the House to invite the ministry of Works, Chairman EKSMA, and Commissioner for Urban Planning to an interface with the House Committee on Works on the possible solutions to the incessant accidents caused by articulated vehicles along the bank road.
Meanwhile, the house has confirmed the nomination of Mr Seun Fakuade as Commissioner nominee from Oye Local Government after initially pending his clearance to consider some petitions written against him.
