The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has assured the people of Ekiti that the State is in safe hands with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) at the helm of affairs.
Aribasoye, in a special message to mark the 29th anniversary of Ekiti State’s creation and Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, noted that the State has passed through thick and thin since its establishment in 1996, expressing gratitude to God for the preservation of both the State and its people.
The Speaker emphasized that a proper stocktaking would show that Ekiti has recorded significant advancements over the years, adding that democratic governance has brought more good than harm to the State.
“Democracy has been favourable to us in our dear State. Citizens’ freedom, press freedom, and legislative impacts are experiences that should excite us. We may not yet be at our desired destination, but we are moving at a very good speed,” he said.
The Ekiti Assembly captain, commended Governor Oyebanji for consolidating on the gains of previous administrations, while also raising the bar of development and good governance, noting that the legislature is thriving under the Governor’s leadership.
“While past governments have contributed their quota to the development of the State, the Biodun Oyebanji administration is no doubt building on those gains. The Governor has allowed the legislative institution to work unhindered, leading to the enactment of very important laws and resolutions, coupled with productive oversight to protect Ekiti’s interest,” the Speaker stressed.
Aribasoye expressed strong preference for the continuity of the Oyebanji administration in order to sustain the trend of development, noting that the Governor’s prospects of clinching the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the forthcoming primary election remain very bright.
He also assured that the House of Assembly under his leadership would continue to makes laws that maximise and protect the interest and progress of Ekiti State.
