The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has been honoured by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Wonderful Mega Area Headquarters, in recognition of his four-year tenure as Area Pastor.
Aribasoye was honoured alongside his wife, Pastor Mrs. Adenike Aribasoye, and Pastor and Pastor Mrs. Oluwaseyi Ilesanmi at a thanksgiving and send-forth service held over the weekend at the church auditorium in Ado Ekiti.
The Speaker, who was recently inducted as a Captain in the Redemption Chaplaincy International, and his wife, a 2nd Lieutenant, was accorded a ceremonial reception with a parade by the Area Brigade.
Giving an account of the pastoral team's stewardship, the men's group of the church disclosed that the church committed about ?35 million to Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives during the period.
According to the Church, the interventions included the distribution of sewing machines, cake mixers, grinding machines, sprayers, cutlasses, day-old chicks and feeds, fingerlings, goats, as well as business grants, among others.
The parishioners also disclosed that at least 10 members secured employment through the support and intervention of the pastoral team as they described the administration's legacy as one reflected in “ transformation of lives, development of workers and ministers, strengthening of families, people's empowerment and establishment of structures.”
The Guest Speaker, Pastor in Charge of Zone at Overcomers Embassy, Pastor Simon Adeniyi, charged Aribasoye to remain steadfast, strong in the face of challenges and committed to service.
Pastor Adeniyi urged the Speaker to continue his good works and remain dedicated to the service of God and humanity.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye said those entrusted with responsibilities by God must discharge them diligently and without hesitation, stressing the importance of faithful service.
He pledged to continue serving God and humanity as divinely mandated, while urging members of the congregation to recognise the unpredictability of life and make conscious efforts to be good to those around them.
On behalf of himself, his wife and the family of Pastor Ilesanmi, the Speaker announced a financial donation to support the church's ongoing building project and CSR initiatives.
The event also featured the presentation of gifts to the outgoing pastoral team in appreciation of their service.
Among those in attendance were the former Vice Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), Professor Adeoluwa Victor, and the Pastor in Charge of Wonderful Mega Area (PICA), Pastor Clement Abaokili.
