The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, says the parliament is keen on security matters, as lawmakers are fully aware of what constitutes the primary essence of government.
Aribasoye, while playing host to the new Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Michael Falade, in his office on Thursday, noted that the Assembly has consistently performed oversight, conducted public hearings, moved motions, and passed bills that border on the security of life and property of the people.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye expressed hope that the new CP would further work on strengthening ties with the state legislature in areas considered important to the peace of the state, noting that the Assembly is ever ready to give legislative support to the activities of the Force whenever required.
“The collaboration will continue and, for a fact, our Governor is visionary and supportive and will relentlessly show his support and approval,” the Speaker added.
The Speaker, who acknowledged the support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the Assembly’s activities, reeled out the achievements of the 7th Assembly, especially in the area of ICT integration, which has promoted public participation, faster delivery, and wider reach.
The new Police Commissioner, Falade, in his earlier remarks, thanked the state government and House of Assembly for their support, saying it has made policing easier in the state.
He specifically appreciated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his relentless support to the Nigerian Police Force in Ekiti, saying, “This government is effective.”
On federal initiatives, the CP applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Violent Crime Response Team.
He also lauded the functionality of government structures in Ekiti State, noting, “It is one thing to have a house; it is another thing to have a house that is working. The Ekiti State House of Assembly and the Ekiti Government are working.”
