...Says workers merit recognition and sustained appreciation.
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has said that workers deserve to be celebrated, describing them as strategic to the implementation of government policies and programmes.
In a statement to commemorate the International Workers' Day 2026, the Ekiti Assembly helmsman noted that one of the best ways to get optimal performance from workers is to ensure they are consistently trained and retrained to keep pace with emerging trends and technologies.
Aribasoye, who appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, for heeding the Assembly’s call by approving the long awaited Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS), added that the 7th Assembly under his leadership has taken notable strides to improve workers’ welfare.
“At the Ekiti Assembly, we have, over the past three years or thereabouts, done a lot to motivate staff, optimise welfare, and enhance the capacity of the legislative workforce. These include the historic activation of the Assembly Loans Board, regular staff training programmes, the digitalisation drive and the facilitation of the new salary structure,” he said.
He described this year’s Workers’ Day as significant, coming just weeks before the Ekiti governorship election, urging workers to take stock, make comparisons, and see reason to re-elect Governor Oyebanji, who, according to him, has prioritised their welfare since assuming office.
“The best reward the Governor can receive at this time is your votes. A vote for him is a vote for the continuity of worker-friendly initiatives, welfare-driven policies, and the overall development of Ekiti State,” he added.
Describing workers as key voters and influencers with the capacity to shape opinions within their families and communities, the Speaker encouraged them to spread the “BAO gospel” in appreciation of the Governor’s excellent performance over the years.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye noted that he always identifies with the celebration, having spent years in the civil service, urging workers across Ekiti State to shun acts that could erode the dignity of the service and to continue upholding the principles of hard work, dedication, quality service delivery, and strict adherence to ethical standards.
