…Salutes educators on 2025 World Teachers’ Day
The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has congratulated teachers in the state on the 2025 occasion of World Teachers’ Day.
In his message conveyed through a press release, the Speaker acknowledged the strategic role teachers play in building and moulding the lives of people, stressing that the makers of society today are products of teachers who diligently shaped their paths.
Aribasoye, who also identified himself as a testimony of the good work of teachers, noted that his early education provided a viable foundation upon which all his later achievements were built, describing the teaching profession as one of pride, value, and nobility.
He emphasized, “Teaching is a noble profession, and I strongly desire that those in it demonstrate diligence and commitment. It should not be a refuge for the indolent or those who report to school sporadically, only to return days later with flimsy excuses.”
The lawmaker advised those who may have been recruited or are on the verge of being absorbed into the teaching service to see the profession beyond an employment opportunity, but as a societal mandate to nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
“It is highly imperative for teachers or aspiring tutors to know that it is not just about getting an avenue for wages or building status. If you think along that path, you will never function with passion and extra effort. It is therefore essential that the profession is viewed with the spectacle of a builder, a reformer, an advocate, and a life coach,” he stated.
The Speaker also saluted the leadership of teachers in the state for its cooperation and continuous engagement with the government on issues affecting the teaching profession, as he appealed for sustained partnership to maintain the quality of training for the younger generation.
The legislative helmsman expressed satisfaction with the commitment and investments of the Oyebanji administration in the education sector, including the improved attention accorded to special schools across the state.
Aribasoye reaffirmed the commitment of the 7th Assembly to continue supporting policies and legislations that enhance teachers’ welfare and strengthen the education system in Ekiti State.
